ISLAMABAD: Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has been appointed to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), according to an official statement issued by the Supreme Court. His induction follows consultations between the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court.

With the new appointment, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will now serve as chairperson of the SJC, while Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan becomes the second senior member. The Council’s composition further includes Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Hassan Rizvi, and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has also undergone restructuring. Justice Aamer Farooq has been added as a member, with Chief Justice Yahya Afridi heading the Commission. Other judicial members include Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Hassan Rizvi, and Justice Aamer Farooq.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan will continue as members of the Commission. Parliamentary representation will comprise two lawmakers each from the government and opposition, while a Pakistan Bar Council–nominated lawyer and a woman member nominated by the Speaker of the National Assembly will also sit on the panel.
Justice Mandokhail has additionally been appointed to the Practice and Procedure Committee, completing the post-amendment restructuring of the country’s highest judicial institutions.
