Security forces eliminated 22 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, the military’s media wing announced on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated the presence of Indian proxy Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — also referred to as Khawarij — militants in the area.
ISPR stated that troops “effectively engaged the location,” and after a fierce exchange of fire, 22 terrorists were neutralised. A sanitisation operation is currently underway to ensure the area is completely cleared of any remaining militant elements.
The statement further added that Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework — approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan — will continue with full force. The campaign aims to eradicate terrorism and dismantle foreign-backed militant networks operating across the country.
