Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif greeted the Kyrgyz leader upon his arrival, where the ceremony opened with the national anthems of both countries. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces presented a guard of honour, followed by President Zhaparov’s inspection of the parade. The two leaders later exchanged warm greetings and introduced members of their respective delegations.
Earlier in the day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed President Zhaparov at the Islamabad airport with full state protocol. A 21-gun salute was accorded, and children in traditional Pakistani attire presented flowers to the visiting dignitary. The Kyrgyz president is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers, top officials and prominent business leaders.
During his visit, President Zhaparov will address the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum, where both sides are expected to explore expanded cooperation in trade, investment and regional connectivity. Talks are set to cover a broad range of bilateral areas including energy, defence, education, and enhanced people-to-people exchanges.
This landmark visit marks the first state-level trip from a Kyrgyz president to Pakistan since 2005, underscoring the longstanding, brotherly ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to peace, development and regional prosperity.
