Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to counter attempts by Indian-sponsored proxies aimed at spreading violence and undermining development in Balochistan.
Addressing participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the CDF said that all “inimical designs” targeting peace and progress in the province would be thwarted through decisive and firm action by security forces.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan, highlighting the province’s strategic importance for Pakistan’s long-term prosperity and national development.
He praised the ongoing initiatives of the federal and provincial governments, noting that a people-centric approach is being adopted to improve socio-economic conditions and unlock Balochistan’s vast economic potential for the benefit of its citizens.
The army chief also acknowledged the constructive role of civil society, particularly in countering propaganda and supporting sustainable development efforts across the province. He stressed the need to reject vested political agendas, emphasizing that Balochistan’s future must be shaped around inclusive growth and long-term stability.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Field Marshal Munir warned that any violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity — direct or indirect — would receive a firm and decisive response. He added that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the nation’s citizens.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion in which the COAS and CDF addressed questions from participants and shared further insights into ongoing security measures and development efforts in Balochistan.
Balochistan, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has borne the brunt of terrorism incidents in 2025. Earlier this month, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that around 900 terror incidents in the province resulted in the deaths of 280 civilians and 205 security personnel. He clarified, however, that no large-scale military operation is underway, and that security forces are conducting intelligence-based operations to counter militant threats.
