According to the Met Office, there is a strong possibility that the Ramadan crescent will be sighted in Pakistan on February 18, which would make the first fast likely on February 19.
The PMD stated that the new moon will be born on February 17 at 5:01 pm. By the evening of February 18, the moon’s age in Karachi is expected to reach approximately 26 hours, a duration considered suitable for visibility.
Officials further noted that sunset in Karachi will occur at 6:25 pm, while moonset is expected at 7:24 pm, providing nearly an hour of viewing time and significantly improving the chances of moon sighting in the city.
The department added that weather conditions are also expected to remain largely favorable, increasing the likelihood of clear visibility in many parts of the country. Final confirmation, however, will depend on official moon sighting reports received from across Pakistan.
