A new fashion trend has taken over Eid shopping in Karachi, with so-called “Kashmiri” bangles emerging as the must-have accessory for women this festive season.

From Jama Cloth Market to Tariq Road and Zainab Market, shoppers have been flocking to stalls in search of the metallic bangles, often adorned with small bells that add a distinctive jingle.
Despite their name, vendors revealed the bangles do not originate from Kashmir. Instead, they are believed to have roots in Nepal, gaining popularity through social media trends before being adopted and rebranded in regional markets.
Priced between Rs800 to Rs1,000 per set, the bangles are among the more expensive accessories this season, though still significantly cheaper than festive outfits, which can range from Rs5,000 to over Rs12,000.
Alongside the bangles, other trends such as Kashmiri-style kaftans and cut-dana embroidery have also gained traction. However, budget-conscious shoppers are increasingly opting for affordable alternatives available at roadside stalls rather than high-end boutiques.
Markets across the city witness peak crowds after Iftar and Taraveeh prayers, with families thronging popular shopping areas. Footpath vendors offering clothing, accessories, and children’s items have attracted larger crowds compared to malls, where many visitors are limited to window shopping.
Traffic management has remained relatively smooth this year, particularly around busy areas like Dolmen Mall Clifton, thanks to increased deployment of traffic police and strict enforcement against illegal parking.
Authorities have also implemented measures such as restricting rickshaw entry in congested zones and maintaining a security presence to prevent theft, ensuring a safer shopping experience during the busy Eid season.
The growing popularity of “Kashmiri” bangles highlights how quickly fashion trends evolve in the digital age, with social media playing a key role in shaping consumer demand.
