Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ali bin Mubarak Al-Khater on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral energy cooperation and ensuring uninterrupted LNG supplies to Pakistan.

According to an official statement, the meeting focused on Pakistan’s appreciation for Qatar’s continued support in facilitating timely LNG cargoes and improving coordination for future energy collaboration, particularly in strategic storage initiatives.
During the discussion, Ali Pervaiz Malik thanked the State of Qatar for assisting Pakistan during a critical period marked by congestion in the Strait of Hormuz and rising electricity demand during the summer season.
The minister said Pakistan highly valued Qatar’s cooperation, describing it as a reflection of the strong brotherly relations between the two countries.
He revealed that he had remained in close contact with Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi regarding LNG shipments, adding that two LNG cargoes had successfully arrived in Pakistan through coordinated efforts.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said Pakistan would continue working closely with Qatar to ensure stable LNG supplies while prioritising energy security through cooperation with friendly nations and avoiding risks to life and property.
He added that the government was also making efforts to arrange additional gas supplies in line with the country’s growing energy needs.
Ambassador Ali bin Mubarak Al-Khater reaffirmed Doha’s support for Pakistan and said Qatar had directed him to provide all possible facilitation to help meet Pakistan’s energy requirements.
The ambassador also appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts and constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
The petroleum minister noted that ongoing regional tensions had highlighted the importance of stronger preparedness and resilience, adding that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government was formulating a comprehensive energy security policy to protect Pakistan from external disruptions.
