According to state television, the explosion destroyed two floors of the building and damaged nearby vehicles and shops along Moallem Boulevard. Rescue and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene to assist victims and contain the situation.
The official IRNA news agency quoted Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, Director General of Crisis Management in Hormozgan province, saying that the cause of the explosion is under investigation. He confirmed that the injured were being transported to local hospitals but did not report any fatalities.
Images broadcast by state TV showed the building’s facade blown out, exposing parts of the interior and debris scattered across the surrounding streets. Other Iranian media outlets echoed these reports, with details on the cause yet to emerge.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region, following the deployment of a U.S. aircraft carrier group to the Gulf, after strong rhetoric from former President Donald Trump.
