Inflation is putting further pressure on households across Pakistan following an increase in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices, with the cost of essential food items continuing to rise. Prices of flour and pulses have increased by around Rs50 in several cities, while chicken has become Rs100 per kilogram more expensive, according to reports. The rising costs have added to the financial burden on consumers already struggling with higher living expenses. In Lahore, most LPG shops have reportedly closed following the price increase. In other cities, LPG is selling for between Rs550 and Rs650, further raising concerns about household fuel costs. The wheat crisis has also worsened in Balochistan. In Khuzdar, Chagai, Washuk, Kech and other districts, a 50-kilogram sack of flour now costs more than Rs8,000. Residents of Quetta are also facing higher food prices, with vegetables, meat and milk becoming up to 20 per cent more expensive.
