Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said the provincial government is preparing master plans for Karachi and Hyderabad to ensure their development follows an organised approach. Addressing a ceremony on Saturday, he said the Sindh Master Plan Authority had been working on the initiative for a long time. Master plans for 14 cities across the province have also been prepared, keeping residents’ needs in mind. The chief minister said the government would take steps to improve Karachi’s deteriorating urban environment. He stressed that all relevant stakeholders must work together to address the city’s problems and strengthen its basic infrastructure. Referring to illegal constructions along Karachi’s drains, Murad Ali Shah said shops had been built on drainage channels and handed over to people, creating serious problems for the city. He said urban development and infrastructure issues had increasingly attracted media attention. He also noted that a ring road was being constructed in Hyderabad. The chief minister reiterated his commitment to working with all stakeholders to improve Karachi and resolve its urban challenges.
