KARACHI: Residents in several parts of Karachi have called for an immediate end to unannounced load shedding as extended power outages continue to disrupt daily life and business activities.

According to reports, electricity outages in multiple areas have exceeded 12 hours, causing severe inconvenience for citizens during the ongoing summer season.
Localities affected by prolonged power cuts include Orangi Town, Korangi, Lyari, Mauripur, Lines Area, Quaidabad, Malir, Manghopir, Keamari, Surjani Town and New Karachi. Residents of Soldier Bazaar, Hawksbay Road and Gulshan-e-Maymar also reported lengthy electricity disruptions.
Citizens in Malir, Surjani Town and New Karachi complained of frequent and prolonged power suspensions, while protests were staged in several areas, including Orangi Town, against the persistent outages.
Residents of Orangi Town, Baldia Town and other neighbourhoods claimed that electricity remained unavailable for two to three consecutive days in some areas, severely affecting routine activities.
The affected citizens demanded that authorities immediately end unannounced load shedding and ensure a stable electricity supply across the city.
Responding to the complaints, K-Electric denied conducting load shedding exceeding 10 hours. The power utility stated that electricity outages in certain areas were linked to non-payment of electricity bills and recovery-related issues.
The situation has sparked growing concern among residents, who continue to urge authorities and the power company to address the electricity crisis and provide relief from prolonged outages.
