Kuwait Iran Attacks Power Plant Hit as Gulf Tensions Escalate

Kuwait Iran attacks caused damage to a power and water facility on Sunday, with authorities reporting a fire at the plant as Gulf states faced continued strikes linked to rising tensions between Iran and the United States.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the attack affected several parts of the facility and forced officials to activate emergency measures.

The ministry said multiple power generator units suffered damage, while firefighters worked to control the blaze.

Officials said it was the third attack in three days on Kuwait’s power and water infrastructure. Authorities also reported damage to an oil facility on Saturday.

Kuwait urged residents to reduce electricity consumption as repeated attacks placed additional pressure on the country’s power network.

Iran earlier claimed responsibility for strikes on US military facilities in Kuwait, saying the attacks targeted American assets in response to US strikes on Iranian territory.

Meanwhile, Bahrain also reported Iranian aerial attacks and accused Tehran of targeting civilian locations. Warning sirens sounded in Kuwait City and Bahrain’s capital Manama as authorities responded to the threats.

Iran’s military said it used drones to target US bases in Kuwait, including an ammunition depot and air defence facilities. Tehran described the strikes as retaliation for American attacks on Iran.

Kuwait and Bahrain, both home to US military installations, have faced increased pressure since fighting resumed in the region despite efforts toward a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

US Central Command said two American service members were killed while defending against Iranian missile and drone attacks. Another service member remains missing, according to officials.
