NAB Chairman Nazir Ahmed formally transferred the recovered assets to KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah during a ceremony held in Peshawar on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the anti-corruption watchdog, the assets were transferred as part of the first phase of recoveries linked to the high-profile corruption investigation. The recovered assets include cash, gold, valuable properties and luxury vehicles with a combined value exceeding Rs6 billion.
NAB stated that the recovery resulted from a comprehensive investigation into the Kohistan financial corruption case, which allegedly involved the embezzlement of more than Rs37 billion in public funds.
As part of the inquiry, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out forensic and financial examinations of more than 1,500 bank accounts to trace alleged irregular transactions and identify recoverable assets.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Nazir Ahmed said the complex financial fraud was uncovered through effective investigative work and commended NAB KP Director General Farmanullah and the investigation team for their efforts.
He added that recovery operations are continuing and that additional assets recovered during the course of the investigation will be transferred to the provincial government after completion of legal formalities.
“Public resources are a national trust, and every possible measure will be taken to safeguard them,” the NAB chairman said.
Officials said the ongoing investigation remains focused on recovering public funds and ensuring accountability in one of the province’s largest alleged financial corruption cases.
