According to Iranian state media, the 90-minute meeting highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic role in maintaining dialogue between the United States and Iran amid continuing regional tensions.
Naqvi also met separately with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, where both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and regional developments.
The interior minister arrived in Tehran on an official two-day visit aimed at supporting diplomatic efforts and promoting regional stability. During his visit, Naqvi also held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who reportedly appreciated Pakistan’s role in easing tensions and acknowledged efforts toward regional peace initiatives.
The meetings come amid renewed diplomatic activity surrounding the US-Iran peace process. Iranian media reports suggested that differences remain between Washington and Tehran on key issues, including Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes and the future status of the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistan has continued to play a mediatory role between the two sides following its involvement in facilitating dialogue after recent regional hostilities, while officials have expressed optimism regarding continued diplomatic engagement.
