According to a statement from the President’s Secretariat, Zardari landed in Changsha, where he was received by Hu Xusheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress. Ambassadors of both countries were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Sardar Saleem Haider saw the president off at Allama Iqbal International Airport, according to Pakistan Television Corporation.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan said the president will remain in Changsha from April 25 to 27 before proceeding to Sanya from April 28 to May 1.
During the visit, Zardari is expected to hold meetings with provincial leadership to review the full spectrum of Pakistan–China relations, particularly focusing on economic cooperation, trade, and CPEC-related projects.
The Foreign Office noted that the visit is part of the longstanding tradition of high-level exchanges between the two countries and holds added significance as both mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
Officials said the trip reflects the deep commitment of both sides to further strengthen their strategic cooperative partnership.
Last year, President Zardari also visited China, where multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed in sectors including agriculture, energy, defence, rail connectivity, and farmer training, with plans to expand these initiatives nationwide.
