Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their strong defence partnership as General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, held a series of high-level meetings with Pakistan’s top military leadership during his visit to Islamabad.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Tokel called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, on Thursday.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual professional interest, regional security developments, and opportunities to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Asim Munir underscored the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye and appreciated the enduring defence collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries.
As part of his engagements, General Tokel also visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of Naval Staff. Discussions focused on professional matters and the prevailing regional maritime security environment.
The Turkish military commander later called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff, at Air Headquarters. The meeting reviewed bilateral military cooperation and other issues of professional significance.
General Tokel praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional peace and stability. He also expressed his commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation and institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Türkiye.
