Donald Trump discusses possible US involvement in Saudi strikes against the Houthis following an attack on Riyadh airport.Donald Trump says the United States is considering joining Saudi strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.

US President Donald Trump has said the United States may join Saudi Arabia’s strikes against the Houthis in Yemen following an attack on an airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Asked by reporters on Saturday whether he had decided to participate in the strikes, Trump said Washington was assessing the situation before making a decision.

“We may. We’re going to look at it. We just found out about the recent attack. We will make a decision. We move very quickly,” he said.

His remarks followed an attack on King Khalid International Airport that prompted a temporary suspension of operations. Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon and that authorities were still determining the number of people injured.

The US and UK embassies in Saudi Arabia urged their citizens to avoid the airport following the attacks, citing security concerns and the possibility of travel disruption.

Saudi authorities had reported on Friday that three citizens were killed and others injured in two attacks on Thursday targeting facilities at the airport and a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft.

Airport operations later resumed, and air traffic returned to normal, according to the civil aviation authority.

The Houthis have claimed responsibility for several missile and drone attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport and other Saudi airports in recent days.
