Qualcomm Prices Smartphone chipmaker Qualcomm has reportedly informed customers that it will increase product prices by a double-digit percentage from September 1, citing higher supplier costs, according to a Bloomberg News report.

The report said Qualcomm notified customers through a letter that the revised prices would apply to products shipped after September 1.

However, Reuters could not independently verify the report. Qualcomm also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rising costs drive decision

According to Bloomberg, Qualcomm told customers it could no longer absorb increasing supplier costs despite efforts to source components from alternative suppliers.

As a result, the company decided to pass part of those higher costs on to customers through higher prices.

Smartphone market faces pressure

The reported price increase comes as Qualcomm faces mounting challenges in the global smartphone market.

Meanwhile, a shortage of memory chips has intensified because semiconductor manufacturers continue to invest heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The supply imbalance has increased costs across the industry.
