The arrested individuals were identified as Hammad Patni, Shehzad Patni and Saad, who were allegedly linked to the “Samad Kathiawari Group” and involved in collecting extortion money from victims.
According to officials, the suspects not only collected payments but also facilitated transactions by providing bank account details for deposits. They would later withdraw the funds and deliver them to operatives of the network.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused were acting on the instructions of alleged extortionists Samad Kathiawari and Osama Bin Jameel, both said to be associated with the notorious Wasiullah Lakho gang.
Authorities said further raids are underway to apprehend other members of the network.
The suspects have been handed over to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for legal proceedings.
Rangers urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting criminal activities through nearby check posts, helpline 1101, or the Rangers Madadgar WhatsApp service, assuring that informants’ identities would remain confidential.
