The DISCOs have submitted a petition seeking adjustments for the first quarter of calendar year 2026, with a public hearing scheduled for May 19.
According to the application, a major reduction of Rs36.83 billion has been recorded under capacity charges for the January–March period. Additionally, Rs11.24 billion savings have been noted under system usage charges and market operation fees.
The companies have also proposed an adjustment of Rs23.51 billion under incremental electricity units, contributing to the overall relief amount.
If approved, the adjustment could translate into lower electricity tariffs for millions of consumers nationwide, offering much-needed respite amid rising living costs.
The final decision on the proposed relief will be made by NEPRA after reviewing the petition during the scheduled hearing.
