A television series based on the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise is officially in development for the Peacock streaming platform, according to an announcement by Vin Diesel and NBCUniversal.

Diesel, who portrays Dominic Toretto in the long-running action series, revealed the project during NBCUniversal’s presentation to advertisers at Radio City Music Hall. The actor said multiple television projects were being discussed, though the company later confirmed that one “Fast & Furious” series is currently in development.
Reflecting on the franchise’s legacy, Diesel admitted he was once reluctant to continue making sequels, fearing the original 2001 film would lose its classic status. However, the franchise is now being honored at the Cannes Film Festival with a special midnight screening celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Diesel and several co-stars are expected to attend the event. Since its debut in 2001, the franchise’s 11 films have generated more than $7 billion worldwide, cementing its place among Hollywood’s biggest action series.
The expansion of the brand continues beyond film and television, with a new “Fast & Furious” roller coaster set to launch at Universal Studios Hollywood later this year, while another attraction is planned for Universal’s Orlando parks.
Diesel praised NBCUniversal executive Donna Langley for supporting the project, saying he felt confident the television adaptation would preserve the franchise’s themes of family, loyalty, and global appeal.
The final “Fast & Furious” movie is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
