Officials in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, said one person was killed and another injured following a missile and drone strike. Authorities added that the attack also damaged energy infrastructure, resulting in disruptions to electricity and water supplies in parts of the region, including the city of Belgorod.
Meanwhile, Russian state media reported that five additional people were injured in separate drone attacks in Horlivka, a Russian-controlled town in eastern Ukraine.
On the Ukrainian side, regional officials said two people were killed and 16 others injured following Russian shelling, missile strikes and drone attacks in Kherson that began early Sunday.
Authorities in Zaporizhzhia also reported injuries after airstrikes and drone attacks targeted the area.
The developments come after Russia launched one of its heaviest bombardments of Kyiv and surrounding regions since the beginning of the war, reportedly involving large-scale drone and missile strikes.
Reuters said it could not independently verify the battlefield claims made by either side. Both Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly denied deliberately targeting civilians.
