Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang agreed to strengthen bilateral coordination and accelerate the implementation of key development projects during a high-level meeting held in Beijing on Monday.

The meeting took place during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s four-day official visit to China and coincided with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Both leaders reaffirmed their support for each other on issues of core national interest and pledged to further strengthen the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The two sides reviewed the overall progress of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over continued cooperation in political, economic, strategic, security and people-to-people sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said the anniversary should be used as an opportunity to transform the longstanding friendship between the two countries into practical, people-focused and future-oriented cooperation. He also stressed the importance of regular high-level engagement and stronger coordination.
The leaders agreed that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has played a significant role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development and emphasized the need to advance the next phase of the initiative.
Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to high-quality development under CPEC, focusing on industrialization, connectivity, agriculture, science and technology, digital transformation, clean energy and social development.
He also appreciated China’s continued support for Pakistan’s economic stability and development, while reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to ensuring the security of Chinese nationals and projects in the country.
The prime minister further underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, advanced technology and space exploration.
