US President Donald Trump defended his administration’s agreement with Iran and rejected criticism that Washington had taken a soft approach toward Tehran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said recent economic indicators showed his policy was working. He pointed to record highs in US financial markets and lower oil prices as signs that diplomatic efforts had delivered results.
“Those who think I haven’t been tough enough on Iran, while the stock market has just hit a record high and oil prices are tumbling, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid,” Trump wrote. He ended the message with his slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
Trump made the remarks as debate continued over the recently announced US-Iran memorandum of understanding. The agreement seeks to reduce tensions and create a framework for broader negotiations.
According to available details, the deal includes commitments on regional security, maritime navigation, and future talks on Iran’s nuclear programme. However, officials from both countries said they still need to negotiate a final agreement.
The US president has repeatedly linked diplomatic progress with economic performance. He argued that lower tensions in the Middle East have boosted investor confidence and reduced global energy prices.
Meanwhile, critics, including lawmakers and political analysts, questioned the agreement. They argued that the framework gives Iran major concessions without stronger guarantees on future nuclear activities.
Despite the criticism, Trump continues to describe the agreement as a significant diplomatic achievement. He also said it could help support long-term stability in the Middle East.
