The death toll from the powerful earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela last month has risen to 2,645, authorities said on Friday. Officials also reported that 12,666 people suffered injuries. PM Shehbaz invites Turkish firms to expand business in Pakistan The Communication and Information Ministry said rescue teams have saved 6,462 people since the disaster. Authorities have also provided assistance to 86,117 families affected by the earthquakes. Rescue operations continue The ministry said the twin earthquakes damaged 885 buildings and completely destroyed 189 structures. More than 3,300 international rescue workers joined the emergency response. Meanwhile, the government deployed nearly 30,000 personnel to support relief and recovery operations. Hundreds of aftershocks recorded According to the ministry, authorities have recorded 890 aftershocks since the disaster. The United States Geological Survey said two earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, just 39 seconds apart. The first measured magnitude 7.5 and hit about 23 kilometres southeast of Yumare in Yaracuy. The second measured magnitude 7.2 and struck about 23.9 kilometres northeast of San Felipe, also in Yaracuy.
