The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved several technical supplementary grants and projects during its latest meeting, targeting various sectors of national importance.

One of the key approvals was a grant of Rs1.94 billion for the Ministry of Defence and Rs52.7 million for the National Commission for Women.
The ECC sanctioned Rs2.26 billion for 15 ongoing Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects and approved funding for the Ministry of Information to accelerate growth in the information sector.
Additionally, a technical supplementary grant of Rs120 million was approved to cover arrears related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Korean Culture Week, and the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) events.
In a significant boost to education, Rs1.50 billion was allocated to increase faculty salaries within the federal framework. The committee also approved Rs1.72 billion for the Interior Ministry, earmarked for repairing CCTV cameras damaged during protests in Islamabad and settling a 5% contract balance for the Safe City project.
The ECC also endorsed declaring the warehouse and logistics sector as an industry to encourage its development. To provide relief to citizens, Rs1.68 billion was approved under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package on Utility Stores, ensuring access to subsidized essential goods.
These decisions reflect the ECC’s commitment to strengthening critical sectors, addressing security and welfare concerns, and promoting socio-economic development.
