The action was taken on the directives of SBCA Director General Muzamil Hussain Halepoto as part of an intensified campaign to eliminate unlawful structures across Karachi. Heavy machinery was used to demolish the illegal shops, reducing them to rubble within a short period of time.
The operation was supervised by Director East Sammi Jablani and involved a full team of SBCA officials, including deputy directors, assistant directors, senior building inspectors, and other enforcement staff. Officials stated that the construction had been carried out in clear violation of building regulations, and several complaints had been received prior to the action.
Speaking on the occasion, DG SBCA Muzamil Hussain Halepoto reiterated the authority’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal constructions. He emphasized that no individual or group would be allowed to violate building laws, adding that strict and indiscriminate action would continue against all forms of unauthorized development.
The crackdown is being conducted under the instructions of Sindh’s Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who has directed authorities to take immediate action wherever illegal construction is identified, without any delay or external pressure.
SBCA officials confirmed that the operation in District East marks the beginning of a wider citywide campaign against illegal structures. Further operations are expected in other districts in the coming days as authorities step up efforts to restore order and enforce building laws in Karachi.
Residents have welcomed the move and expressed hope that such actions will continue consistently to address the long-standing issue of illegal constructions in the city.
