The company has begun restructuring teams under a new AI-driven strategy, shifting employees toward artificial intelligence tools and projects as part of a broader organisational overhaul.
Meta said the move is aimed at creating smaller, faster and more AI-focused teams to improve efficiency and accelerate decision-making across the company.
Reports indicated that nearly 8,000 employees have been notified about job reductions, while staff members throughout the organisation have been briefed on the restructuring plans. Cybersecurity and content design departments are reportedly among the areas most affected.
At the same time, the company has already reassigned around 7,000 employees to AI-related teams as part of its long-term technology expansion strategy.
Meta is also planning to invest more than $100 billion in AI infrastructure this year as it seeks to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence industry.
Mark Zuckerberg reportedly told employees in an internal message that no additional large-scale companywide layoffs are currently expected, although limited workforce reductions in specific departments may still take place.
