During his stay in the Chinese capital, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and advancing cooperation under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly in trade, investment, agriculture, industry, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Before arriving in Beijing, the prime minister visited Hangzhou, where he addressed the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference and held meetings with Chinese companies and provincial leaders.
During the conference, he highlighted Pakistan’s investment potential and invited Chinese businesses to establish industries and enter joint ventures in sectors including textiles, leather, agriculture, energy and minerals.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also visited Alibaba headquarters and oversaw the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth billions of dollars. He stressed the importance of converting investment commitments into practical agreements to accelerate economic growth and strengthen bilateral trade.
He expressed optimism that expanded cooperation with China would create employment opportunities, increase exports and contribute to Pakistan’s long-term economic development.
