According to the report, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent visit to Iran played a significant role in moving discussions closer to a decisive stage. The report stated that amid a complex regional situation involving Gulf states and broader Middle East tensions, Pakistan assisted in helping shape a draft framework linked to ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The report further claimed that following Asim Munir’s return from Tehran, the proposed draft framework was shared with both Iranian and American leadership for review.
During the visit, the Pakistani military leadership reportedly held meetings with Masoud Pezeshkian, Abbas Araghchi and senior parliamentary leadership, where discussions focused on bilateral and regional matters.
The report stated that both Washington and Tehran had confidence in Pakistan’s facilitation role, while coordination between the country’s political and military leadership was described as an important factor in the mediation process.
It also claimed that Pakistan has historically played diplomatic roles in international affairs, including helping facilitate relations between the United States and China in earlier decades.
