Upon arrival, the premier was received by Makkah Region Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Mashaal bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold a key bilateral meeting with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and the evolving regional situation.
The prime minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and spokesperson Mosharraf Zaidi.
Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, the prime minister will travel to Qatar and Turkiye, where he will hold bilateral meetings with respective leaderships to discuss cooperation, regional peace, and security.
During his visit to Turkiye, he is also expected to participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where he will join global leaders to present Pakistan’s perspective on key international issues. On the sidelines, he is likely to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other world leaders.
The visit comes as Pakistan remains at the centre of global diplomatic attention after hosting high-level talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.
Despite extensive discussions, the first round of negotiations ended without a formal agreement, and tensions remain high, particularly following reports of potential US measures affecting maritime traffic linked to Iran.
A second round of talks is expected in the coming days as efforts continue to secure a lasting ceasefire and stabilise the region.
