Russia launched a wave of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine on Saturday, killing two people and injuring at least 19 others, as Kyiv renewed calls for faster deliveries of air defence systems from its allies.

The attacks struck several Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv.

In the capital, 11 people were injured after Russia fired ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strikes hit civilian infrastructure before air raid sirens sounded. He added that emergency crews were working at the affected sites.

“Our defenders managed to shoot down most of the targets, but not the ballistic ones,” Zelenskyy said. He urged Ukraine’s allies to quickly deliver the air defence packages pledged during this week’s NATO summit.

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched six ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles and 121 drones during the overnight assault.

Air defence units intercepted at least two cruise missiles and 111 drones. However, they failed to stop the ballistic missiles.

Later on Saturday, a missile strike in the southern port city of Odesa killed two people and wounded another.

Meanwhile, a drone attack struck a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv, injuring seven people, local officials said.

Ukraine has repeatedly warned that shortages of Patriot interceptor missiles have weakened its ability to stop ballistic missile attacks.

Kyiv has urged its allies to increase supplies of air defence munitions. It has also called for closer cooperation with European partners to develop an anti-ballistic missile defence system.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump said Ukraine would receive a licence to produce Patriot interceptor missiles domestically.

Following Saturday’s attacks, Zelenskyy called for those projects to move forward without delay.

Russia has intensified attacks on Kyiv in recent weeks. Ukrainian authorities say strikes on the capital and surrounding region have killed more than 60 people so far this month.

At the same time, Ukraine has increased attacks on Russian military logistics in occupied southern Ukraine.

Ukraine’s drone forces commander, Robert Brovdi, said his units struck 21 fuel tanker vessels in the Sea of Azov overnight. He added that Ukrainian drones also targeted seven cargo and support ships, bringing the total number of vessels hit this week to 76.
