Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said the results of the US midterm elections will not change Washington’s hostile policy towards Tehran, regardless of which political party holds power. In a statement, Khamenei said those expecting a shift in US policy following changes in political leadership were mistaken. He added that believing American hostility could end through concessions reflected a serious misconception. Khamenei also warned Washington against further aggression, saying Iran would respond on a much broader scale if the United States launched another attack. He claimed recent developments in the Gulf and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz had challenged perceptions of American military invincibility. The Iranian leader further said these developments had exposed governments that depended on foreign powers instead of relying on their own people. He warned that even the slightest indication of surrender would undermine the sacrifices made by the Iranian people and those killed in the conflict.
