In their appeals, they argued that the Islamabad High Court rejected their requests despite repeated adjournments sought by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). They also claimed the court did not consider important legal questions linked to the case.
The petitioners said the high court dismissed their pleas without conducting an initial review of the evidence. They argued that the decision conflicted with established legal principles.
According to the petitions, prison authorities delayed the process of securing signatures on legal documents. The filings also claimed that the PTI founder lost 85% vision in his right eye during imprisonment.
The appeal stated that Bushra Bibi underwent eye surgery while in custody and that authorities did not inform her family or legal team.
The petition further claimed that jail officials kept both individuals under restrictive conditions at Adiala Jail. It argued that prolonged isolation caused serious mental distress.
The applicants maintained that the refusal to suspend their sentences despite health concerns amounted to injustice.
They also accused NAB of repeatedly seeking adjournments and extending the proceedings unnecessarily.
According to the petition, courts had granted bail during earlier trial stages, while some allegations were later found baseless. The applicants argued that these factors supported sentence suspension.
The appeal also challenged the legality of the arrest process and referred to an earlier superior court order that directed release in connection with the arrest.
The petitioners claimed the accountability proceedings carried political motives and departed from fair trial standards.
They requested the Supreme Court to overturn the Islamabad High Court decision, suspend their sentences and order their release.
