Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) system at the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), marking a major step toward digital transformation and institutional reform.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at the Water Corporation’s head office, the mayor said modern technology was essential to improving efficiency, transparency and accountability in public sector organisations.
The event was attended by KW&SC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer Engineer Asadullah Khan, Chief Financial Officer Ammar Ali Khan, DMD HR Sikandar Ali, along with several senior officials including Sadat Anwar, Abdul Ghani Shaikh, Ameen Tughluq, Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Faisal Qureshi, Aamir Rasheed, retired Colonel Anjum Tauqeer and Sajid Nizam.
Mayor Wahab said the newly launched SAP system would digitise records, streamline billing and recovery processes, enhance expense monitoring, and strengthen overall financial and operational management.
“With this system, decision-making will become faster and more accurate, and citizens will benefit from improved and higher-quality services,” he said.
He added that meaningful institutional reform was not possible without adopting modern technology, noting that KW&SC was now being aligned with advanced IT infrastructure. Reaffirming his commitment to transparency and performance, the mayor said the reform process would continue to ensure better public services and improved access to clean water.
KW&SC officials termed the SAP rollout a significant milestone in modernising the corporation’s operations, expressing optimism that its positive impact would become visible in the coming months.
