Pakistan Rangers, in a joint intelligence-based operation with Sindh Police, arrested an alleged extortionist in Lyari Karachi on Wednesday, officials said.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan Rangers Sindh, the suspect was identified as Nasir, alias Nana, son of Taj Muhammad.

During initial interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that he, along with an accomplice, sent an extortion slip demanding Rs1.2 million and two 30-bore pistol bullets to a rent-a-car owner through a parcel delivered via a ride-hailing service.
The statement further said the suspect later made threatening calls via WhatsApp, warning the victim of serious consequences, including death, if the demanded amount was not paid.
Authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched raids to apprehend the suspect’s accomplices. The arrested individual has been handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
The Rangers spokesperson urged citizens to report criminal elements through official helplines, assuring that the identity of informants would remain confidential.
