According to a spokesperson, the task—originally planned for 48 hours—was completed in just 33 hours on the directives of Murtaza Wahab, marking a significant operational achievement for the utility.
The restoration includes the resumption of supply from the K-2 pumping house at Dhabeji, where three pumps have been made fully operational. This has added approximately 100 million gallons per day (MGD) to the system, increasing total supply to around 600 MGD. However, with Karachi’s demand estimated at 650 MGD, a shortfall of about 50 MGD remains.
Authorities said water supply is being restored in phases across different مناطق. Full restoration has been achieved in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Scheme 33 and Gulistan-i-Jauhar. Distribution has also resumed from key hydrants in Nipa, Safoora and Sakhi Hasan.
However, officials cautioned that partial shortages may persist in tail-end areas including Saddar, Chanesar, Landhi and Korangi, while supply in most other parts of the city has normalized.
Senior officials, including KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and COO Asadullah Khan, praised the staff for completing the work ahead of time, commending their professionalism and commitment.
The administration reiterated its resolve to improve civic services and ensure better water management for Karachi’s growing population.
