The Colombian singer took the stage under a full moon in Rio de Janeiro, opening her show in Brazil’s national colours after a dramatic drone display formed the image of a she-wolf — her well-known nickname. Addressing the massive crowd in Portuguese, she expressed her affection for Brazil and praised the unity of millions gathered for music.
According to city officials, the turnout surpassed recent major concerts at the same venue, including performances by Madonna and Lady Gaga, cementing Shakira’s show as one of the largest in the beach’s history.
The concert featured a dynamic setlist of her biggest hits, including “Hips Don’t Lie,” “La Tortura,” and “La Bicicleta,” alongside elaborate staging, multiple costume changes, and collaborations with Brazilian stars such as Anitta, Caetano Veloso, and Maria Bethania.
Part of her 2025 global tour, which has already earned a Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing tour by a Latin artist, the event highlighted Shakira’s enduring popularity in Brazil, where she has built a loyal fan base over decades.
The city saw heightened security measures, with thousands of officers deployed and advanced surveillance systems in place. Officials also estimated the concert would inject more than $160 million into the local economy, with a sharp rise in tourism and airline bookings.
Fans travelled from across the country, with many camping overnight to secure a spot, underscoring the singer’s deep connection with Brazilian audiences.
