In his message marking the anniversary of the incident, the chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party described the sacrifices of the victims as a painful yet enduring reminder of the price paid for democracy, justice, and the rule of law.
Bilawal said the events of May 12 were not only a tragedy but also became a symbol of the people’s steadfast democratic struggle and resistance against oppression.
He praised party workers, political activists, and the citizens of Karachi for showing courage and determination during one of the city’s darkest days.
According to Bilawal, the blood shed on Karachi’s streets stands as testimony to the people’s commitment to democracy, constitutional supremacy, and justice.
He further stated that nations heal not by forgetting painful events but by remembering them with truth and dignity.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment, Bilawal said the PPP would continue striving for a peaceful, democratic, and tolerant Pakistan where citizens are not silenced through violence and no city lives under fear.
