The bustling Awam Dost Mandi at Karachi’s Northern Bypass continued to witness heavy activity as the number of sacrificial animals surpassed 125,000 during ongoing Eid-ul-Adha preparations.
A special ceremony titled “Maarka-e-Haqu” was organized at the market’s Media Cell to commemorate the first anniversary of the event, attracting celebrities, visitors, traders, and notable personalities.
According to Administrator Tariq Tanoli, enthusiasm among buyers has intensified as Eid approaches. He stated that more than 125,000 animals have entered the market since April 5, while trading activity remains strong across different blocks.
One of the major attractions at the mandi is the rare “Sunheri Tabri” goat breed brought from Hyderabad, which has gained attention from visitors due to its distinctive appearance and quality.
The celebrations were organized by Media Cell In-charge Zaki Abro and spokesperson Um-e-Aiman. The event featured performances by well-known stage comedians including Saleem Afridi, Shakeel Shah, Pervez Siddiqui, and Saba Sheikh.
The artists toured both VVIP and General blocks of the cattle market and interacted with visitors before entertaining attendees with live performances.
Religious scholar Suban Attari of Dawat-e-Islami also visited the market late at night and praised the administration for maintaining high standards of facilities, including lighting, food arrangements, and mobile network coverage.
During his visit, Suban Attari commended the efforts of the Media Cell and offered prayers for the prosperity and success of traders and buyers participating in the cattle market.
