An own goal from Adam Marusic and a first-half strike by Lautaro Martinez sealed Inter’s 10th Italian Cup triumph at the Stadio Olimpico.
Inter coach Cristian Chivu praised his team after the victory, saying the club deserved both trophies following a strong campaign.
“Winning the league and cup is never something you can take for granted. We’re very happy,” Chivu said after the match.
For Lazio, the defeat added to a disappointing season marked by fan protests against club owner Claudio Lotito. Supporters voiced their frustration throughout the match despite returning in large numbers for the final.
Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri admitted Inter were the superior side and expressed disappointment for both his players and the fans.
Inter dominated the match from the opening stages, taking the lead in the 14th minute when a header from Marcus Thuram deflected into the net off Marusic.
The second goal arrived in the 35th minute after Denzel Dumfries capitalised on a defensive mistake by Nuno Tavares before setting up Martinez for a simple finish.
Martinez’s goal marked his 22nd in all competitions this season despite injury setbacks during the campaign.
Lazio struggled to create clear opportunities in the second half, while Inter comfortably controlled the game and held on to secure another major trophy in a highly successful season.
