According to hospital authorities, a large number of people sought medical treatment for symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and indigestion during the holiday period.
Civil Hospital Emergency In-charge Dr Imran said that more than 100 patients were treated on the second day of Eid for complaints of vomiting and abdominal pain. He added that another 100-plus patients suffering from gastric disorders visited the hospital on the third day of the festival.
Meanwhile, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre also reported a rise in digestive health cases. More than 50 patients with stomach-related ailments were brought to the hospital on the first day of Eid.
Jinnah Hospital Emergency In-charge Irfan Siddiqui attributed the increase in cases to excessive meat consumption, inadequate water intake and unhealthy eating habits during the festive period.
Medical experts warned that consuming large quantities of meat while neglecting vegetables, salads and water can place additional stress on the digestive system and lead to gastrointestinal problems.
Health specialists advised citizens to maintain a balanced diet, drink sufficient water and include vegetables and salads in their meals to reduce the risk of stomach disorders. They also urged the public to avoid overeating meat during Eid celebrations.
