KARACHI: Authorities have recovered 2.72 acres of Pakistan Railways land worth approximately Rs1.42 billion during a major anti-encroachment operation in Karachi, officials said on Monday.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (SP) Railways and resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals allegedly involved in illegal occupation of government property.
According to officials, the reclaimed land is located along the Karachi Circular Railway corridor near Deh Dozan, Dow Hospital, and behind King Classic Apartments. Pakistan Railways records confirm that the recovered property is part of the designated Karachi Circular Railway alignment.
Authorities said the land had allegedly been occupied for the development of an unauthorized private housing project known as “Sheikhani Sky Towers.”
The action was launched after a status quo order in Case No. 108/2026 expired on May 25, 2026, and was not extended by the court. Following the lapse of the order, Pakistan Railways, in coordination with the Railway Police and district administration, initiated legal proceedings and reclaimed possession of the land.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways confirmed that First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against the detained suspects. He added that anti-encroachment operations are continuing across the country to protect public assets and prevent illegal occupation of railway property.
Officials described the Karachi operation as a major success in the ongoing campaign against land mafias, safeguarding national assets worth billions of rupees.
