Goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Endrick helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side secure the win after Egypt briefly fought back with an equaliser from Mostafa Zico.
Brazil Make Bright Start
Brazil took control early and opened the scoring in the seventh minute.
Bruno Guimaraes capitalised on a defensive mistake by Mohanad Lasheen near the edge of the penalty area. He then calmly placed the ball into the bottom-right corner to give his side the lead.
However, Egypt responded quickly and restored parity just four minutes later.
Mostafa Zico intercepted a misplaced pass from Marquinhos and calmly beat goalkeeper Alisson to make it 1-1.
Egypt Hold Firm Before Break
Brazil pushed forward in search of a second goal before halftime.
Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, and Igor Thiago all created dangerous opportunities. However, Egyptian goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir produced several important saves to keep his team in the match.
As a result, both sides entered the break level despite Brazil creating the better chances.
Endrick Delivers Winning Goal
Ancelotti introduced eight changes at halftime to test different combinations ahead of the World Cup.
The move paid off almost immediately.
Endrick came off the bench and scored the winning goal after connecting with a precise cutback from Raphinha, who produced an impressive run down the left wing.
Furthermore, the goal highlighted Brazil’s attacking depth and the impact of its substitutes.
Brazil Dominate Statistics
Brazil controlled much of the contest and created more scoring opportunities than their opponents.
The South Americans registered 1.81 expected goals from 12 shots, while Egypt generated 0.4 expected goals from five attempts.
Moreover, Raphinha played a key role throughout the match, while Vinicius Junior and Matheus Cunha consistently troubled the Egyptian defence.
Endrick’s performance also strengthened his case for a larger role in the tournament after facing criticism during the qualification campaign.
Focus Shifts to World Cup
Brazil will now turn its attention to its World Cup opener against Morocco on June 13.
Meanwhile, discussions continue regarding Neymar’s fitness and potential involvement in the tournament.
Egypt, on the other hand, will begin its World Cup campaign against Belgium on June 15.
Despite the defeat, Egypt enters the competition after enjoying an unbeaten run that stretched back to January.
