Kharan operation Seven terrorists killed in Balochistan IBO

Security forces carried out the Kharan operation in the Lajay area after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants. The operation took place under the ongoing Radd-ul-Fitna-3 campaign.

According to security sources cited by Radio Pakistan, the militants belonged to Fitna al-Khawarij, the state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The operation also led to the recovery of modern weapons, a large quantity of ammunition, military equipment, two vehicles and a motorcycle. Security forces destroyed the militants’ hideouts during the operation.

Authorities said the militants had allegedly been involved in planning robberies, extortion, kidnappings for ransom and targeted killings in Kharan and Lajay. They had also allegedly planned suicide attacks in the area.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for the operation and described the destruction of the hideouts and recovery of weapons as a significant achievement. He said continued action against terrorist groups was essential to protect national security and reiterated that the nation stood with security forces in the fight against terrorism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the personnel involved, describing their efforts to maintain peace in Balochistan as commendable. He said intelligence-based operations would continue until the threat of terrorism was eliminated.

The latest operation follows a series of military actions across Balochistan. On Monday, security forces reported killing five terrorists, including a key commander, in Panjgur. On August 9, forces said they killed 15 terrorists in operations across Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Noshki.

Security forces also reported killing 12 terrorists in Washuk and Mastung on August 6.

Terrorism remains a major security challenge for Pakistan. According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data project, attacks in the country increased from 658 in 2022 to 2,425 in 2025, while reported TTP attacks rose from 118 to 838 over the same period.

Balochistan has remained a major target alongside Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, with militant groups continuing to attack civilians and security installations despite sustained counterterrorism operations.
