She was airlifted to a private hospital on University Road. The transfer followed serious burn injuries sustained at Sandeman Provincial Hospital in Quetta.
Medical Condition and Treatment
Hospital sources said she suffered burns on around 13% of her body. The injuries include her face, abdomen, and right hand.
Doctors also confirmed that both eyes were affected by acid exposure. However, they said her eyesight remains intact.
On arrival in Karachi, doctors conducted initial tests. A team of plastic surgeons and eye specialists examined her condition.
After evaluation, she was shifted to a Special Care Unit. Doctors said her condition is satisfactory and improving.
Police Action and Investigation
Police registered a case at Civil Lines Police Station in Quetta. They filed charges against the suspect under relevant laws.
Authorities identified the suspect as Humayun Shah. They said he was later killed during an operation to arrest him.
Officials also claimed the suspect had harassed the doctor for several months. They said evidence was recovered from his mobile phone.
Government Response and Support
Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Kakar said the patient was shifted to Karachi at her family’s request. He added that provincial facilities were available but the transfer was preferred.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised hospital staff member Abdul Razzaq Tareen. He was injured while trying to save the doctor during the attack.
The chief minister also announced a civil award for Abdul Razzaq. He assured full government support for his treatment.
Public Reaction and Protest
The attack has sparked strong condemnation across Balochistan. Healthcare workers have demanded better security for female doctors.
The Young Doctors Association announced a partial boycott of services. However, emergency care will continue during the protest.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations proceed.
