The historic performance will take place during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium, with millions of viewers expected to watch globally.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 11 in Mexico City, with matches being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
FIFA said the halftime show will be curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay and produced in partnership with Global Citizen.
According to FIFA, the event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to improve access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
FIFA also announced that one dollar from every ticket sold for World Cup 2026 matches will be donated to the initiative.
An announcement video released on social media featured Chris Martin alongside characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets, with a special appearance by BTS.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the performance as a historic moment that would match the scale of the world’s biggest sporting event.
Meanwhile, FIFA recently confirmed that reggaeton star J Balvin will headline the opening ceremony in Mexico City, joined by performers including Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
Questions remain over whether FIFA will extend the traditional 15-minute halftime break to accommodate the large-scale performance.
