The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) hosted a high-level delegation from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), which praised the institute’s achievements in cardiac care and medical education.

The delegation was led by Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, President CPSP. Additionally, Prof. Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, Senior Vice President CPSP, Prof. Ambreen Afzal, Vice President CPSP, and several CPSP councillors joined the visit.
Meanwhile, Prof. Tahir Saghir, Executive Director NICVD, welcomed the delegation along with senior management and faculty members.
NICVD Showcases National Healthcare Network
During the visit, Prof. Tahir Saghir delivered a detailed presentation on NICVD’s healthcare network and achievements.
Furthermore, he highlighted the institute’s advanced facilities, research activities, and postgraduate medical education programmes.
The delegation also received a briefing on interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, paediatric cardiology, and emergency cardiac care.
In addition, officials explained how NICVD continues to expand its services through satellite centres across Pakistan.
As a result, thousands of patients receive specialized cardiac treatment free of cost every year.
CPSP Applauds Medical and Academic Excellence
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal outlined CPSP’s recent academic initiatives.
Moreover, he emphasized the importance of strengthening postgraduate medical education and professional standards in Pakistan.
He praised NICVD for its role in specialized cardiac care. Likewise, he commended the institute’s contribution to medical training and research.

Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and Prof. Mohammad Shoaib Shafi also appreciated the Government of Sindh for its continued support.

Cultural Traditions Highlight Visit
During the ceremony, Prof. Tahir Saghir presented souvenirs to the visiting delegation.
In keeping with local traditions, he also presented Ajrak and Sindhi Topi to the CPSP leadership.
In return, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal presented a commemorative shield to Prof. Tahir Saghir.
The shield recognized NICVD’s contributions to cardiovascular healthcare and medical education.
Delegation Tours NICVD Facilities
Following the formal session, the delegation toured several departments and facilities at NICVD.
During the tour, officials briefed the guests on the institute’s infrastructure, advanced technologies, and training programmes.
Moreover, the delegation visited key clinical and academic units to observe operations firsthand.
