Karachi: Security sources on Thursday dismissed reports of a large-scale military operation in the Tirah region, clarifying that only Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) are being carried out against terrorist elements as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

According to the sources, security forces have been conducting targeted IBOs for the past three years against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan. These operations are based on verified intelligence and are aimed at neutralising specific terrorist threats. Officials said such actions would continue until the complete elimination of terrorist networks.
The sources termed claims of a full-scale operation in Tirah as “false, baseless and deliberate propaganda,” adding that there has been no increase in troop deployment in the area and no new checkpoints have been established for entry or exit.
They also noted that prevailing weather conditions are not suitable for any large-scale military campaign. Security officials further revealed that links between terrorist groups and criminal elements have been fully exposed.
Emphasising civil-military harmony, the sources said the bond between the armed forces and the public remains strong and cannot be undermined by negative narratives. All security-related decisions, they added, are made in consultation with tribal communities and local elders, while respecting regional traditions and ground realities.
Commenting on Balochistan, security sources stated that Fitna al-Hindustan remains an adversary of development and public welfare. They added that the people of Balochistan are fully aware of elements using claims of deprivation as a cover for terrorist activities.
