Speaking on Sunday, Reza Amiri Moghadam said Iran had conveyed a new negotiation plan to Washington, stressing that progress would depend on a change in US policy. He described Iran’s stance as “clear and transparent,” adding that Tehran would not compromise on its national interests or defence priorities.
The ambassador underscored Pakistan’s role as a key intermediary, calling it a “central mediator” in facilitating communication between the two sides. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to diplomacy but criticised what he termed inconsistency in US behaviour.
Moghadam said responsibility for moving talks forward lay with United States, urging Washington to adopt a more constructive approach and respect Iran’s rights.
Highlighting regional ties, the envoy noted growing economic and political cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, pointing to border crossings such as Mirjaveh, Taftan and Gabd-Rimdan as vital trade routes.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump confirmed that Washington had received a 14-point proposal from Iran and would review it, though he did not rule out the possibility of military action.
In a related development, Israeli media reported increased coordination between Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir and US CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper regarding potential strategic steps involving Iran.
